Yachting
The Ionian Sea is a yachtsman’s paradise with gentle, calm, clear waters, one of the safest sailing areas in the world. Sailing holidays in Corfu and the surrounding Ionian islands are ideal both for the novice and for the expert sailor due to the geographical position, the beauty of the landscape, the many anchorages in the region, the mild climate and, of course, the existence of an international airport.
Magnificent Scenery
The scenery is magnificent, with plenty of typical Greek villages, numerous fortresses and other ruins depicting the centuries of domination by the Venetians. Picturesque sheltered bays surrounded by cypress and olive groves, lively towns, sandy beaches and local tavernas. Yachting offers the freedom to get to places which are completely inaccessible by road.
Crystal-clear waters & Picturesque Villages
Crystal-clear, sparkling blue waters surround the Ionian Islands which are scattered with tiny villages nestled in the verdant slopes covered with olive groves and cypress trees. The warm and friendly locals are always ready to welcome visitors with their traditional Greek hospitality.
Temperature & Wind
During spring and autumn the temperatures are mild, but similar to a bright summer day in central Europe. However, in the height of the high summer it gets considerably hotter but usually the afternoon sea breezes makes the atmosphere comfortable. The winds vary from island to island and even from bay to bay but usually just strong enough for a pleasant afternoon sail.
During winter, the prevailing winds blow from the south with a strength often exceeding Force 8 and can last for days.
Quality Fleet Available
The carefully selected good quality fleet ranges from basic or luxury sailing yachts to motor cruises, all of which have been designed with care for comfort and pleasure, to ensure that the holidays in Corfu are just… smooth sailing!
