Corfu town Hotel: Bella Venezia
The Bella Venezia Hotel, housed in a gloriously restored neo-classical mansion, is an oasis of calm in the heart of Corfu’s vibrant capital.
Originally the 19th century residence of one of the island’s first families, in the 20th century the edifice served as a consulate, the National Bank of Greece, and a Lyceum for Corfiot schoolgirls. In 1988, the apricot-hued stately home became a hotel named for the Most Serene Republic and, in 2006, in was lovingly renovated to serve the needs of Third-Millennium visitors from the world over.
Renovated in elegant style by interior designer, the hotel comprises 31 rooms, all with private baths, direct telephone and internet lines, flat screen TVs, safe deposit boxes, air-conditioning and state-of-the-art orthopedic beds, featuring double mattresses and exquisite linens and duvets. Two beautiful rooms designed for honeymooners in mind and a second floor grand master suite, ideal for families, round out the accommodation.
The hotel’s public rooms maintain the ambience of a 19th-century English club, and feature a fully stocked snack-bar, lofty, carved wooden ceilings, pink and white checked floors made of Ioannina marble, and all the mansion’s original architectural elements.
An internet kiosk was added this year.
In spring and summer, a generous breakfast is served in the “Gazebo”, a free-standing, airy sun-room set in hotel’s garden; in summer, guests breakfast among the rich riot of flowers in the garden proper. Open year round, the Bella Venezia is one of island’s premier hotels, its reputation based as much on the impeccable, personalized service offered by its long-time staff as on its fine amenities.

Located in a quiet side street, the Bella Venezia is very close to Corfu Town’s historic “Spianada” and guests have easy access, by foot, to all the important sites and attractions of Kerkyra: The Liston, the two great fortresses, the museums, and Corfu Town’s fine restaurants, shops and cafes.
